"How Did Humans Obtain Morals?"

back in the day when the world was new
new in the sense for folks like me and you
trying to stay alive in groups of just a few
existing all alone and they had to get along
the habitat made it feel like they just didn't belong
their skin wasn't tough and their teeth weren't that long
they didn't have claws in a world filled with brawn
they weren't very strong and they didn't have long
one thing that they had was that they worked in teams
developed game plans, refined strategies
daydreamed about tomorrow and planned accordingly
they discovered seeds and made communities
as they went along they had to work out some kinks
a member of the tribe sometimes just might would think
it's easier to steal all of the other folks things
like maybe take a wife and/or someone's life
the group would band together and they would take care of this
any troublemakers would just get x'd off the list
the team would agree on just a few basic rules
and if you didn't play along well then you were gone
the only tribes that made it were the ones that figured it out
how to get along and spread resources around
several thousand years later some of these concepts were bound
but they'd been engraved in their DNA
